The Woman's Club of Rutherford NJ is a not-for-profit 501(c) 3 volunteer organization with a long history of philanthropy, advocacy and leadership, supporting our local community while building lasting relationships. But this time we are the ones asking for support.
Our mission includes stewardship responsibilities for our beloved clubhouse, built in 1886 from brownstone quarried in nearby Belleville NJ and originally serving as the carriage house for Iviswold Castle. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, we have a duty to preserve and restore this beautiful piece of local history while ensuring its continued access and safe use by the public.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic and shutdown has inflicted a heavy toll on our ability to raise funds to keep the building running. Event rentals, our primary source of funds for its ongoing maintenance, have evaporated due to social distancing restrictions placed on indoor activities. We fear any continuation of these restrictions will put our ability to preserve this piece of local history in jeopardy.
We are asking for your assistance in the form of a tax-deductible donation. While many non-profits have seen their fundraising abilities impacted by COVID-19, we hope you will consider donating to our cause. Even a few dollars, when added together, can make a difference.
The Woman's Club of Rutherford NJ has been serving our local community since 1889. Through the years its members have worked diligently to raise funds for local charities, founded what eventually became the Rutherford NJ Public Library, and contributed time, money and resources in support of other local organizations. We've provided yearly scholarships to high school seniors, fed the hungry, supported veterans and veteran causes, and helped seniors, abused women and children, and those with special needs.
Now we are the ones who need help in this extraordinary time. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
